Getting a Seedance API key is not the same as calling Seedance. The BytePlus Seedance 2.0 tutorial is explicit: you must have a BytePlus balance greater than USD 30, or a purchased prepaid resource pack, before you can even activate the Seedance 2.0 series models. The domestic Volcengine route applies the same structure with a balance of at least 200 CNY. This affects Videos API, sora-2, sora-2-pro, sora-2-2025-10-06, sora-2-2025-12-08, and sora-2-pro-2025-10-06.” The discontinuation notice adds that the web/app experiences closed April 26, 2026 and that Sora data is deleted after the export window. Any pipeline built on Sora has a hard end date; the realistic options are:

  1. Run the bridge through September 24 while you migrate. If your integration is live, keep it running — but start the migration now, not in September. Four weeks is a short window for a production feature.
  2. Swap the model ID and keep the async pattern. Sora’s API shape (submit a job, poll or webhook, fetch the result) is the same pattern Seedance’s API and most of the video API category use. The integration cost of moving is real but bounded — and it’s exactly the kind of swap an aggregator layer absorbs, since the submit/poll contract is identical.
