“Seedance 1.0 price” is a question about a model that ByteDance launched in June 2025 and has since moved past — but “moved past” is not the same as “gone.” As of September 7, 2026, the official international route (BytePlus ModelArk) still lists Seedance 1.0 Pro at 2.5 USD per million video tokens (about $0.61 for a 5-second 1080p clip at its own example math) and Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast at 1.0 USD per million tokens (about $0.24 for the same clip). The budget tier, Seedance 1.0 Lite, was formally deactivated on May 13, 2026, and several pages that still rank for 1.0 pricing are selling that dead SKU or quoting numbers from before the current generation existed.

This breakdown is the dated version of that picture: what the 1.0 family costs today on the official route, which tiers still bill, how per-token pricing converts to per-clip and per-second numbers, and what the current Seedance line (1.5 Pro, 2.0, 2.5) costs if you decide not to build on a legacy model. Every figure below was read from the cited official page on September 7, 2026, and every table is stamped with that date because video-model prices move and versions quietly retire.

Modellix is an aggregator: we license ByteDance models and resell access behind one API key, so we have a commercial interest in the aggregator route. That is why the honest conclusion here is narrow — match the model, tier, resolution, duration, billing unit, and date before you compare any two numbers, and note that Modellix’s current catalog carries the Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 lines but no Seedance 1.x routes (checked September 7, 2026). The details are below.

The short answer: Seedance 1.0 pricing in September 2026

BytePlus ModelArk is the official international API for Seedance, and its current price card still carries two 1.0-family entries with live online and offline rates (ModelArk pricing, accessed September 7, 2026):

Seedance 1.0 model (ID) Online inference Offline inference
seedance-1-0-pro-250528 2.5 USD / M video tokens 1.25 USD / M video tokens
seedance-1-0-pro-fast-251015 1.0 USD / M video tokens 0.5 USD / M video tokens

Video is billed by output video tokens, not by the second. BytePlus publishes estimated token consumption as (input video duration + output duration) × width × height × frame rate / 1024, and it prices from that estimate until the actual usage.completion_tokens value comes back with the result. The practical consequence: a 5-second 1080p clip at 24 fps is roughly 244,800 tokens, which is $0.61 on Seedance 1.0 Pro and $0.24 on Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast — the official examples below confirm both numbers.

Three status facts frame every other number in this article (all checked September 7, 2026):

  • Seedance 1.0 Pro and 1.0 Pro Fast are live and billable on BytePlus ModelArk — they appear on the current price card with both online and offline rates, and neither is on BytePlus’s deprecation list.
  • Seedance 1.0 Lite is deactivated on official international routes. BytePlus’s model-deprecations notice lists both Lite IDs (bytedance-seedance-1-0-lite-i2v-250428, -t2v-250428) with a deactivation date of May 13, 2026, and recommends seedance-1-0-pro-fast-251015 as the replacement.
  • Modellix does not currently carry Seedance 1.x. The ByteDance section of our catalog lists 2.0 and 2.5 routes only (live model pages, checked September 7, 2026) — which matters for the comparison in the second half of this article.

Seedance 1.0 status in 2026: what still bills and what does not

BytePlus runs a formal retirement process for models: a first notification, then a deprecation date (after which no new endpoints or fine-tunes can be created), then a deactivation date when the model stops serving. The third batch of 2026 deprecations, published March 2026, is where Seedance 1.0 Lite sits (Model deprecations, accessed September 7, 2026):

1.0 tier Official API status (Sep 7, 2026) Replacement path
Seedance 1.0 Pro Live — on the price card, active model page Still current for silent 1080p work
Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast Live — on the price card, active model page BytePlus’s recommended replacement for Lite
Seedance 1.0 Lite Deactivated May 13, 2026 (BytePlus deprecation batch, notice March 17, 2026) 1.0 Pro Fast; automated swap targets Seedance 2.0 Fast

The nuance most ranking pages miss: ByteDance has never published a flashy “Seedance 1.0 is retired” announcement, because the family is alive — 1.5 Pro, 2.0, and 2.5 all carry the Seedance name. Versions simply age off the price card and the model list one at a time. Seedance 1.0 Lite’s model-introduction page still exists on BytePlus’s docs and still quotes a 1.8 USD/M-token rate, but the model is not on the current price card and its IDs are on the deactivation list — treat that page as stale documentation, not as an active price. If a reseller is still quoting you 1.0 Lite with a 1080p tier, the spec itself is wrong: Lite topped out at 720p on official surfaces, and the SKU is dead.

Official BytePlus ModelArk pricing for Seedance 1.0 (checked September 7, 2026)

The price card and the two model pages (Seedance 1.0 Pro and its pricing section) agree that text-to-video and image-to-video are billed identically, purely on output tokens. BytePlus publishes worked examples for 16:9 output at 24 fps; the table below reproduces the official estimated prices (not our arithmetic):

Resolution Duration Seedance 1.0 Pro (official est.) Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast (official est.)
480p 5s / 10s $0.12 / $0.24 $0.05 / $0.10
720p 5s / 10s $0.26 / $0.51 $0.10 / $0.21
1080p (1920×1088) 5s / 10s $0.61 / $1.22 $0.24 / $0.49

Source: BytePlus ModelArk pricing page, accessed September 7, 2026. These are BytePlus’s estimated prices for a 16:9, 24 fps output at the listed resolution; token consumption is estimated by formula and the actual bill follows the usage.completion_tokens value returned with the task. Only successfully generated videos are billed.

Three reading notes on that table:

  • Pro Fast is the cost tier of the 1.0 family. At 1.0 USD/M tokens it prices a 1080p 5s clip at roughly 40% of Pro’s cost, and BytePlus recommends it as the replacement for the departed Lite. If you are comparing 1.0 tiers for a new silent-clip workload, this is the tier to cost.
  • The “per second” instinct misleads. At official list rates, 1080p output works out to roughly $0.12/second on Pro and $0.05/second on Pro Fast — but nothing on the official route bills per second, and resellers that quote per-second prices fold their own markup and pack structure into that number. Section below shows how to convert without mixing units.
  • Offline inference halves the token rate (1.25 and 0.5 USD/M respectively) for workloads that tolerate batch processing — BytePlus lists both columns for exactly this reason.

Why “Seedance 1.0 price” has more than one number

The same model is priced four different ways across the market, and the unit you are quoted changes the number by more than the provider does:

Billing unit Who uses it What it means for a 5s 1080p clip
Per video token BytePlus ModelArk (official) 244,800 tokens × rate ÷ 1,000,000 = $0.61 on Pro (list)
Per clip Some marketplaces’ list cards The same $0.61-class output, quoted as a flat “per video” price
Per second Reseller / credit platforms Roughly $0.12/s on Pro at official list math — before their markup
Credits Consumer apps and credit shops An opaque multiplier on any of the above, priced per pack

The conversion that matters: a 5-second, 1080p, 24 fps output is 5 × 1920 × 1088 × 24 / 1024 ≈ 244,800 tokens. At 2.5 USD/M that is $0.61 per clip ≈ $0.122 per second; at 1.0 USD/M it is $0.24 per clip ≈ $0.049 per second. Any reseller quote that beats those numbers dramatically is either quoting a different resolution or duration, using credit-pack math that hides its real cost, or simply wrong.

Concept illustration: three billing units (per-token, per-second, per-clip) are different lenses on the same output — convert, then compare. Prices in this article live only in the dated tables, not in images.

Independent marketplaces and credit shops currently sell the 1.0 family anywhere from around official list price up to roughly double, depending on how their credits convert and what resolution ladder they publish — several also list a 1080p Lite tier that never existed officially. Rather than trust a per-second headline, run the same spec through the token formula and compare the resulting per-clip cost. If the seller does not publish enough information to do that, treat the quote as unverifiable.

Seedance 1.0 in the current ByteDance lineup: 1.5 Pro, 2.0, 2.5

Seedance 1.0 (June 2025) was ByteDance’s multi-shot text/image-to-video generation model — silent output, capped at 1080p, 2–12 second clips on the API. The line has since grown in three steps, and each step changed the cost story:

Generation Released What changed vs 1.0 Official API status (Sep 7, 2026)
Seedance 1.5 Pro Dec 2025 Native synchronized audio; audio/no-audio price split Live (audio 2.4 / silent 1.2 USD per M tokens)
Seedance 2.0 Feb 2026 One unified model (no Pro/Lite split), native audio, up to 4K, up to 15s Live; current workhorse — Mini/Fast tiers added through mid-2026
Seedance 2.5 Jul 31, 2026 Longer reference windows, 30s one-pass text-to-video Live on BytePlus (1080p cap on the official API)

Two points matter for a 1.0 buying decision. First, the things 1.0 could not do — native audio, longer clips, higher resolution — are exactly what the later generations added, so a “1.0 vs current” comparison is usually really a feature-gap decision with a price attached. Second, ByteDance is currently running limited-time official discounts on the current line that make the comparison even more lopsided: Seedance 2.0 Mini at 60% off list (720p from about $0.03/second) and 2.0 Fast at 25% off through October 7, 2026, and Seedance 2.5 1080p at 28% off through September 17, 2026 (same pricing page, accessed September 7, 2026). The audio-capable 1.5 Pro is covered in our Seedance Pro API guide, and the full cross-generation decision in our Seedance 2.0 vs earlier versions walkthrough.

What running Seedance today costs through Modellix (checked September 7, 2026)

An honest aggregator comparison starts with what the aggregator actually carries. Modellix’s ByteDance provider hub currently lists Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 routes — T2V, I2V, and V2V across the standard, Fast, and Mini tiers — and no Seedance 1.x models. If your requirement is literally “Seedance 1.0 Pro via API,” the official BytePlus route (above) is the one that currently sells it; we do not.

What we do list is the current generation, billed per second of generated video with one API key and no account-balance or model-activation gate (rates read from live model pages, September 7, 2026):

Modellix route (model page) Live per-second range (Sep 7, 2026)
seedance-2.0-t2v $0.0700–$0.7800/sec
seedance-2.0-fast-t2v $0.0600–$0.1200/sec
seedance-2.0-mini-t2v $0.0400–$0.0800/sec
seedance-2.5-t2v $0.1030–$0.5690/sec

Live per-second ranges displayed on the Modellix model pages, accessed September 7, 2026. Ranges span the resolutions each route supports; they are aggregator billing (per second) and are not directly comparable to BytePlus per-token rates until the same model, tier, resolution, and duration are matched on both sides.

This is not a claim that Modellix is the cheapest route to ByteDance models — at current list prices, official promos on 2.0 Mini and 2.0 Fast are aggressive, and a per-second aggregator rate will not always beat a matched official token price. The reasons developers use the aggregator route are the ones the official route cannot offer: one key across 210+ models from many vendors, no BytePlus balance threshold or per-model activation step, per-second billing with per-task cost logs, and a single bill. If you need the exact workflow trade-off, our Seedance 2.0 API access guide walks both routes end to end.

Three glass entrances — a cloud portal, an API key slot, and a console — converging on one key

Concept illustration: official cloud, aggregator, and console are separate doors to the same underlying model; the right one depends on your constraints, not on a headline price.

Should you still pay for Seedance 1.0 in September 2026?

Short verdict: only for legacy silent-clip pipelines. Seedance 1.0 Pro is still a perfectly serviceable 1080p video API, and if your product already runs it, the price card above is what you are paying today — nothing forces a migration while Pro and Pro Fast remain listed. But for anything new, the honest math points elsewhere:

Your situation Best route
Production pipeline already on 1.0 Pro / Pro Fast, silent clips Stay on the official route; watch deprecation notices (none issued for Pro/Pro Fast as of Sep 7, 2026)
New project needs cheap silent short clips Compare 1.0 Pro Fast (official) against 2.0 Mini (currently 60% off official) before choosing legacy
New project needs audio, longer clips, or 4K 1.0 cannot do it — go 1.5 Pro or 2.0/2.5; see the guides linked above
You want to test several video models without N vendor accounts Aggregator route (e.g. Modellix) — no activation, one key, per-second billing
Mainland-China infrastructure or compliance Volcengine Ark route, billed in CNY and set separately from BytePlus (official model-price doc)

When the official route is the better trade: you are all-in on ByteDance models at volume, you want the direct vendor relationship and the offline/batch token rate, or you need the domestic Volcengine route. When an aggregator is the better trade: you are still evaluating Seedance against other video models, you do not want a BytePlus balance-and-activation setup, or you want one billing relationship across several providers — accepting a per-second rate through a middle layer in return. Neither choice is “cheaper” until the spec matches; our guide to the cheapest AI video API routes shows how quickly unit confusion breaks naive comparisons.

Frequently Asked Questions About Seedance 1.0 Price

How much does Seedance 1.0 cost per second?

At official BytePlus list rates (checked September 7, 2026), a 1080p output costs roughly $0.122/second on Seedance 1.0 Pro (2.5 USD/M tokens) and roughly $0.049/second on 1.0 Pro Fast (1.0 USD/M tokens). The official route bills per video token, not per second; resellers that quote per-second prices apply their own markup on top of similar math.

How much does a 5-second 1080p Seedance 1.0 video cost?

BytePlus’s official example math prices a 5-second 1080p (1920×1088, 24 fps) clip at about $0.61 on Seedance 1.0 Pro and about $0.24 on 1.0 Pro Fast, before the actual usage.completion_tokens bill lands. A 10-second clip is approximately $1.22 and $0.49 respectively.

Is Seedance 1.0 deprecated or still available?

Partially. Seedance 1.0 Pro and 1.0 Pro Fast are still listed with live pricing on BytePlus ModelArk (checked September 7, 2026). Seedance 1.0 Lite was deactivated on May 13, 2026 per BytePlus’s official deprecation notice, which recommends 1.0 Pro Fast as the replacement. No deprecation has been announced for Pro or Pro Fast.

Why is Seedance 1.0 Lite no longer priced officially?

BytePlus retired the Lite model IDs in its third 2026 deprecation batch (notice March 17, 2026, deactivation May 13, 2026). Lite’s model-introduction page still exists but is stale documentation — the model is not on the current price card. Some third-party marketplaces still sell Lite, and several misquote it with a 1080p tier that official specs never supported; treat those listings as unreliable.

What is the price difference between Seedance 1.0 Pro and Pro Fast?

Pro Fast’s official token rate is 1.0 USD/M versus Pro’s 2.5 USD/M — about 60% cheaper per token — with the same resolution ladder up to 1080p. On the official 5-second 1080p example that is $0.24 versus $0.61. Pro Fast is the tier BytePlus recommends as the Lite replacement.

Is there a price difference between Seedance 1.0 text-to-video and image-to-video?

No. BytePlus states that text-to-video and image-to-video are priced identically on Seedance 1.0 Pro and Pro Fast — billing is purely on output video tokens, and image input is not an extra line item.

Is Seedance 1.0 cheaper than Seedance 2.0?

Not automatically. 1.0 Pro Fast (1.0 USD/M tokens) undercuts Seedance 2.0’s list rates, but Seedance 2.0 adds native audio, longer clips, and higher resolution that 1.0 simply cannot produce — and ByteDance’s current 2.0 Mini discount (60% off through October 7, 2026, from about $0.03/second at 720p) erases most of the price gap for comparable specs. Compare the same spec and features, then decide.
